SPS Racing turned its first laps as a NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series organization Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway, and Landon S. Huffman made them count, running the No. 43 Lindamood Demolition Chevrolet to 28th of 39 entries in practice — a strong, clean session on the World's Fastest Half-Mile for a driver taking his first laps in a series car. Then the weather took over. Lightning and rain washed out qualifying for the Food City 300, and with the field set by NASCAR's points-based metric instead of on-track speed, a first-time entrant with no season points to lean on was the one car left off the 38-car grid. It is not the outcome anyone wanted, but the weekend delivered what a debut is for: laps, data, and a real baseline to build from. The No. 43 returns to competition at Phoenix Raceway on October 17.
